Safia Thayananthan

image.png

Safia is a Grade 10 student at Jean Augustine Secondary School who loves reading, binge-watching her favourite shows, and giving back to her community. She actively volunteers at local hospitals and is deeply involved in women’s health advocacy, including breast cancer awareness and youth mental health initiatives. In Grade 9, hearing an Indigenous woman share her experience with residential schools profoundly shaped her understanding of injustice. Inspired by this, Safia now shadows a lawyer, works toward publishing research on flaws in the justice system, and hopes to become a lawyer who advocates for equity and marginalized voices.
